Writer's Block

The words alone make me shudder. I want to be productive, I want to write, I want to blog, I want to work on this project that I am so passionate about I am pretty sure I will burst if it doesn't get out soon. But, hey there, *headache* *job search* *chores* *staring blankly at my computer screen because I know exactly what I want to write but I am pretty sure that every sentence is empty and really who wants to read someone ramble on anyway except maybe I am being too hard on myself because it might actually be good and I mean everyone knows writers are apparently neurotic so just keep working at it* or whatever the issue is that day.

There are many things in life that are reliable. Death, taxes, your favorite show being cancelled too soon, and writer's block. I think I may have found the trick, though. Take a selfie, post it to social media, whine about the block for a bit, then go and write a few paragraphs. If it doesn't work for the book, you can blog about it, right? It isn't procrastinating, it is free writing, a time honored way to break through that wall. And I mean it, I think it worked. I need to edit what I wrote, but I actually got some ideas down for two chapters once I get through my tantrum. Thanks, Instagram! I'll have another confession up this weekend!

What do you do to overcome your procrastination mental blocks?
